Trinity Mirror appoints Toby Chapman group development editor

By Darren Boyle

Trinity Mirror has appointed Toby Chapman to the new role of group development editor.

Chapman was previously editorial development manager for regionals and will be responsible for collaborating between regional and national news teams.

He has been heavily involved in the regionals senior editorial team for the past two years and has been key in the move towards introducing “multimedia workflows”.

Neil Benson, editorial director regionals said: “Toby has a fantastic range of skills, spanning journalism, data analysis, workflow and project management, and his promotion is thoroughly deserved. Our aim is to become one of the UK’s leading multi-platform publishers and the ongoing transformation of our newsrooms is integral to that.”

Earlier in his career, Chapman was executive editor at the Liverpool Echo and began his career on the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times. He has also worked as sports editor on the Edinburgh Evening News.
